Open to all

Eight years ago, all 12 of Lewisham’s public libraries were run by the council. These days, only three remain in the control of the authority, the rest being run largely by volunteers. It’s a remarkable and sometimes bitter story of spending cuts, job losses, public protests and community spirit.
