Cookie Policy (UK) – Calico Libraries Last updated: February 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains how cookies are used on calicolibraries.com, operated by Calico Projects (a registered CIO charity, number 1180229). We have tried to keep this as clear and honest as possible: Calico Projects does not use cookies to track you or collect your personal data for our own purposes. However, some of the tools we use to run this website do set cookies, and this policy explains what they are.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help sites remember your preferences or enable certain features to work. Some cookies are set by the website itself, others by third-party tools embedded in the page.
3. The cookies on this site
Essential / functional cookies These cookies are necessary for the website to work properly. They are set by WordPress, the platform this site is built on, and by Complianz, the tool we use to manage your cookie preferences. You cannot opt out of these as the site cannot function without them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| wordpress_test_cookie | Checks that cookies are working correctly | Session |
| wordpress_logged_in_* | Keeps admin users logged in (not set for regular visitors) | Session |
| wp-settings-* | Stores editor preferences for admin users | 1 year |
| cmplz_functional | Remembers your cookie consent choice | 1 year |
| cmplz_preferences | Stores your cookie preference settings | 1 year |
| cmplz_marketing | Records whether you have consented to marketing cookies | 1 year |
| cmplz_consented_services | Records which specific services you have consented to | 1 year |
Analytics cookies (only with your consent) We no longer use Google Analytics or any other analytics service. If we reintroduce analytics in the future, this policy will be updated and your consent will be sought beforehand.
YouTube Some pages on this site include embedded YouTube videos. If you click to play a video, YouTube may set cookies on your device. These are set by Google/YouTube, not by Calico Projects, and are subject to Google’s own privacy policy (policies.google.com). YouTube videos will not set cookies until you choose to play them.
Ticket Tailor (event bookings) We use Ticket Tailor to manage event bookings. Where a Ticket Tailor booking widget is embedded on this site, it may set cookies — including from Mixpanel, a third-party analytics tool used by Ticket Tailor itself. These cookies are only loaded with your consent. You can manage this via your cookie preferences.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _mp_opt_in_out* | Mixpanel (via Ticket Tailor) | Records whether you have opted out of Ticket Tailor’s analytics |
| mp_tab_id_* | Mixpanel (via Ticket Tailor) | Identifies your browser tab for session tracking |
Social media We do not embed any social media content on this site. Links to our Facebook and LinkedIn pages are provided, but clicking these will take you to those platforms, which have their own cookie and privacy policies.
4. Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit this site, you will be shown a cookie banner asking for your preferences. You can change your mind at any time by clicking the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer.
You can also delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of this site work.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or request deletion of any personal data we hold, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. For full details, please read our Privacy Notice.
