Football Fables – Author event with Lee Wellings

Join us at Manor House Library for a very special event with Lee Wellings. He’ll be reading from and answering questions about his new book Football Fables, a collection of witty, poignant and occasionally furious short stories about the state of football today.

“Are you one of the millions who love football? Do you get excited on matchday? Has your club ever done something magical? And… has the game gone? Welcome to Football Fables: eleven unique stories with dry wit and rampant imagination. Fables to make you laugh, cry and see the so-called beautiful game in a new light.”

Lee has been a sports journalist and broadcaster for more than three decades, and has worked for the BBC, Sky News, ITN and Al Jazeera. He regularly works as a sports analyst and motivational speaker, and is the founder of the production company Kalleyedo Films.

Born and raised in south London, he now lives in Horsham, West Sussex, and is a devoted supporter of Horsham FC. He is also a Manor House Library ultra.

Asking the questions will be Calico’s very own Andi Thomas, manager of Sydenham Library and author of Underground, Overground: The Fault Lines of Football. Andi has been writing about football for over a decade, for Eurosport, Football365, SB Nation, the Blizzard and plenty others. In 2012 he was named Blogger of the Year by the Football Supporters’ Federation.
